The much talked about Android one is a standard created and developed by Google. The company aims to target people buying their first smartphone. Google has developed the software keeping the third world countries in mind.

The android one smartphones will run software close to the stock android without the often extensive vendor specific modifications that many vendors apply. The security problems will be handled by Google, avoiding problems some earlier smartphones have had with lacking security updates. The initial set of android one devices features mediatek’s quadcore MT6582 mobile system on chip.

Android one smartphones have been launched in India, Nepal and Philippines. The first set of smartphones were by Indian companies Karbonn, Micromax and Spice. Other manufacturers are also believed to follow gradually. All 3 phones featuring Android one run on Google’s latest android version 4.4 KitKat. Google inc. Hopes to make its presence felt and ultimately rule the smartphone markets in emerging countries.

All the smartphones featuring Android one are priced under $ 100 which makes it a must have for all gadget freaks out there. Instead of original equipment designers coming up with designs and hardware specifications, google is offering OEM’s with hardware specifications and device run stock android.
