The Rise And Rise of Arijit Singh….

He redefined love with his melodious hit single “Tum Hi Ho” from the movie Aashiqui2 and since then, there has been no looking back for the young singing sensation Arijit Singh. The 27 year old has become a household name. He is rocking on everybody’s playlist. From “Tum Hi Ho”  to ” Main Dhoondne Ko Zamaane Mein”, from “Kabhi Jo Badal Barse” to “Khamoshiyan”, Arijit Singh is definitely making a lot of buzz these days. Known for his soul steering voice and his versatality, This lad from Jiaganj in West Bengal knows how to strike the chord.

With more than 120 soul steering songs in his kitty, this small town guy is making the crowds go wild. He has been churning out new songs at a rapid pace. The year 2015 has the name of Arijit Singh written all over it. From “Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron” from the bollywood flick “Roy” to “Baatien Yeh kabhi Na” from Khamoshiyan, you name them and he has it under his belt. With a string of highly successful chartbuster numbers to his credit, the singer has turned into a “hit Machine”. Arijit won the best male playback singer award at the 2013 filmfare awards for his chartbuster single “Tum Hi Ho”

The listeners feel a certain kind of romanticism, they tend to lose themselves in his lyrics. The rising popularity of Arijit is definitely increasing his fan base both in India and abroad. Arijit started his journey way back in 2005 as a contestant of the singing reality show “Fame Gurukul”. Although, he did not end up winning the show but his voice and talent earned him a lot of popularity.  Interestingly, the winners of the show were soon forgotten,but this lad from Jiagunj,West Bengal has certainly worked hard, day in and day out to earn himself a name in the highly competitive Indian Music Industry. After trying his luck at the singing reality show “ Fame Gurukul”, Arijit settled in Mumbai and began assisting Music Director Shankar Mahadeven. The music trio of Sharkar-Ehsaan- Loy provided Arijit Singh with a chance to sing in the album “ High School Musical2, the music of which was composed by the trio itself. Arijit got his first major break as a playback singer with the song “ Phirr Mohabbat” from the movie Murder 2. He sang alongside Mohammad Irfan. The song became a chartbuster overnight and gave Arijit an initial taste of success.

Right from big banner movies like “Gunday” to small budget movies like “Heartless”, the youngster has lended his voice for almost every film in 2014. He has already worked with a lot of music directors in his relatively brief  career so far. He has become the face of prominent companies like T-Series and Sony Music.  In a brief career spanning to a little over than a couple of years, Arijit Singh has collaborated with numerous veteran music directors like Pritam Chakraborty, Jeet Ganguly and A.R. Rahman as well.  Irshad Kamil has penned down  the lyrics of  a majority of the songs that have been sung by Arijit.

In the era of cut throat competition, it won’t be wrong to say that this new kid on the block has almost overshadowed other singers in the music industry. The likes of prominent singers like Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan and Kumar Sanu have all faded away. Although Arijit Singh is undoubtedly the talk of the town right now, he still has a long-long way to go. But, keeping in mind  the number of songs he is churning out right now, this small town boy is surely the new kid on the block.
